Tongariro National Park

The Tongariro Circuit is a very popular walk, and it is easy to understand why. The Circuit is a Great Walk and the huts are supposed to have gas stoves in it. From Oturere Hut we climbed through a moonlike landscape to the craters: Red Crater, North Crater and Central Crater. There are some beautiful lakes there. From the Ketetahi Hut, one can see Lake Taupo. Sunsets can be great here. The Tongariro crossing itself is unforgettable when the weather is good (and most likely also when the weather is bad)..
