The Gunbarrel Highway

The Gunbarrel Highway, one of the roads created by Len Beadell's Gunbarrel Road Construction Party, between 1956 and 1958 in Central Australia. The road links Carnegie Station with Victoria Down and thus Central Australia with Western Australia. The road was originally build to facilitate the atomic bomb testing site near Woomera. These days the road is mostly used for recreational purposes (and for the benefit of Australian garage owners, the road is very corrugated, don't let the word "highway" mislead you..
